Top Five Camera Phones You Must See

Top 5 Camera PhonesWith all the smart phones now out, not to mention the new iPhone 4S (and the iPhone 5 on its heels), along with a zillion new HTC models, the techno race for the best camera phone is clearly on. But with so much to choose from these days, have you found yourself wondering which really is the best camera phone? The winner is debatable, but if you’re a photo-phone junkie or if you just want the cream of the camera phone crop, these 5 phones ‘snap shops’ will bring some of the pixelated pleasure that you’ve been dreaming of.

1. iPhone 4S – Ok so we’ve already mentioned it once, but there’s no doubt that the iPhone 4S takes the cake and not just because of ‘Siri’. It comes complete with an 8-megapixel camera, with a wide aperture (for taking pictures in the low-light pubs and clubs, of course) and the picture quality is superb, with an excellent range of vibrant colour and minute detail. With the same chipset that is used in the iPad2, touch focusing, face-detection and in-camera photo editing, this phone is set for awesome camera performance.

2. HTC Evo 3D – Everyone loves 3D, right? It surely is the way of the future. Like most of the new HTC models, the Evo 3D comes with a dual 5-megapixel camera and dual LED flash that takes snapshots in 3D. Its other features include a 4.3-inch display, auto-focusing, a dedicated shutter button as well as the capability to shoot 3D video. Mind you, if you want to view the 3D pics, you kind of need to be looking directly front-on at the screen. Of course, you can turn the 3D function off and take photos in your basic 2D, but if you’re going to invest in this phone simply for the 3D camera, you may as well make the most of it.

3. Samsung Galaxy S II – New on the market and just as hot is the Samsung Galaxy S. Like the iPhone 4S, its camera is also 8 megapixels and with a giant 4.5-inch screen to boot and 13 shooting modes to flavour-up your images, it almost is like having a digital camera in your back pocket (oh and it also makes phone calls, just in case you were wondering!). It also features face-detection and stabilisation functions as well as the ability to alter white balances, contrasts and the light-metre. Also with an in-camera editing option, this ultra-light and ultra-thin phone is definitely one of the popular ones in the phone schoolyard.

4. Nokia N8 – Prior reviews of the Nokia N8 haven’t been great, but we had to mention it simply because it has a whopping 12-megapixel camera with a Xenon flash and optical technology “borrowed” from Carl Zeiss. Despite the myth that ‘megapixels aren’t everything’ the Nokia N8 at least gets solid points for trying and most will agree that it produces excellent, high-quality photos. Its other perks include a 3.5 inch display, face-detection and auto-focus, not to mention the 720p video capture at 30 frames per second.

5. HTC Amaze 4G – Inspired? Sensationalised? Oh, wait – you’re amazed! This model in the HTC range also comes with an 8-megapixel camera (noticing a trend here?) with dual LED flash. It has 2 dedicated camera buttons, an imaging sensor for better light capture as well as the ability to shoot panoramic pics, SmartShots and, like the Sensation, instant image capture, which basically means you don’t have that lag of the shutter release in most other camera phones. HTC seem to be indeed paving the way for future camera phone technology and the series is definitely one to keep an eye on.
